When you pray, what sort of language do you use? Many people think that there are certain ways that we must pray. Words that must be used if we want to do it right. If there’s no “thees” and “thous” in there, a lot of us don’t think it’s a valid prayer. The Psalms show us something very different. There is a realness and a rawness to our prayers built on the character of God Himself. As we lean in to Him, it changes how we talk to Him!

One of the most primal emotions we experience in this life is fear. In Psalm 3, David addresses this powerful emotion of fear. He shows us that there are two different levels to fear and 4 ways to overcome that fear. As we lean into what God is teaching us in this Psalm, we can find a way to live above our fears and anxieties and find peace and rest for our souls.

We hear a song, or we think of something and a musical refrain pops into our head, and then we can’t seem to get it out! What if that same thing happened with scripture? What if a verse or two popped into our heads and we couldn’t get them out? How might that change our day-to-day life? That was some of the original intent with the hymnbook of the Bible known as The Book of Psalms. These scriptures, originally set to music, became the thoughts and language of the day for God’s people. Oh, that this could happen again today! His ideas have permeated math, science, history, and even theology and has created this idea that science and the Bible cannot coexist. To be scientific means to be in opposition to God. What if that were not true, though? What if the study of science lead to deeper faith in God? Can they coexist?

There are over 320 million “gods” in the world today and 22 major religious systems among the 7 billion people on this planet. With all those religions and gods to worship, how can the Bible claim that there is only ONE way to heaven…that there is only ONE God? Is it logical to claim that the God of the Bible is really who He says He is? How can we believe that there is only one God and one Lord, Jesus Christ?
